I'm not real sure about that, because the G.I. Joe "action figures" have been jointed since they first started being made back in the early 1960's

if they were made out of a "resin" and not just plastic it would probably be easier to consider them as true "dolls" instead of just another toy

Tokyo Doll does makes some cuties :-D ... they were near the top of my short list ... I had been considering one of their 60cm dolls before I made my final decision and got my Mio (a 65cm IpleHouse EID Luna)

Also the neck! If the neck is too long or short, it ruins the doll. Here is an example of an excellent neck. It has a good length and a natural taper.

The ends of the lips should taper off, instead of gape open(closed mouth only, obv.)Here is an example of good lips marred by open-ends.
