Hey /do/. Could you please recommend me a view good sites to buy dolls?

I'm fairly new to doll collecting and only know two sites. Well, three if you count eBay.

It's good for finding reports of good molds and stuff though. And as far as I can tell that's exactly what's needed.

Sounds more like what is needed is advice on getting started. A cheap Obitsu is a great way to see if it is something that one would want to do, as any accessories one buys/makes would fit other dolls of the same size from higher quality manufacturers.

$150 USD for a doll body from a top-quality manufacturer vs $20-$30 USD for an Obitsu [still decent quality, and made in Japan if you're that picky.], I'd pick the Obitsu for first-timers, unless you're some rich guy, in which case you might as well go direct to the best and have one custom made by a master dollmaker in Germany or France. Kinda like Warhammer; if you're rich enough, why build an army slowly?

Actually, since these Obitsu are PVC, they're actually tougher than the top dolls [made of resin], and great for learning how to be gentle with dolls without harsh consequences. Even if you do break it, it's only a $30 body, not a $150 "OH SHIT!" moment.

With that in mind, if you're based in the US, I've heard Junky Spot is a decent place to shop. I've seen them at cons before, and they're fairly nice.

If OP decided that he's a True Dollfag after trying the Obitsu, then he can easily upgrade to something nicer. The dolls posted on the Den of Angels link ARE very nice, and great places to expand to as a second doll.

Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>> No.1825   [Delete]   [Edit]

Not OP but I checked out junkyspot and i wondered if cloth made for other 27 cm dolls would fit a Obitsu since they don't seem to have many cloth made specially for them. Also, could you buy fully dressed up BJD dolls anywhere? Or is that too entry-level?

>> No.1849   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>1704
I agree. They very much look down on Dollfie Dreams. OP needs to decide what they want to do and that would depend on where they should go.

>> No.1913   [Delete]   [Edit]

I'd like to add another recommendation for The Junky Spot. One of the things that I really like is the fact that anything listed onsite is in stock, no question.

Get 2 kid, divorced, then well talk about how easy 500 buck is on the budget.

Remember not everyone put their apple in the same basket :)

>> No.1908   [Delete]   [Edit]

It also depends on what you're spending that 500 on. I'd spend on burando, or new games or antiques, but a new doll would really have to have an AMAZING sculpt to make me consider it.

here is another Japanese dollmaker that does deal directly with American customers ... and from what I have seen written about this company they are about the quickest to get your doll to you after you have ordered/payed for her

sup guys, mod here

Nuked half of this thread because it wasn't about realistic dolls at all, more like generic baby dolls, and some of them weren't even trying to be realistic (or the one who posted them had a weird definition of that). Anyway I could have banned for derailing the thread but I didn't; feel free to open a new thread.

Not sure if picture related, although it is as much as a doll as the OP post

I want one that looks like a little girl and is about the same actual size. Would that be illegal to get? One that you could have sex with? I mean its a doll.

Uh, and which country are we talking about? I guess nobody will care at your local Zimbabwe town, other then I doubt that you'll manage to reach the customs with a few billiards of zimabwes dollars alive.

I'm not real sure about that, because the G.I. Joe "action figures" have been jointed since they first started being made back in the early 1960's

if they were made out of a "resin" and not just plastic it would probably be easier to consider them as true "dolls" instead of just another toy

>> No.1663   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>1662
I dunno, Hujoo, Pullip and Obitsu aren't always made of resin and I definitely count them as dolls and not action figures.

>> No.1664   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>1663

true, all 3 of those brands are very definitely considered "dolls"

>> No.1702   [Delete]   [Edit]

Best definition I've ever heard. The term "Action Figure" is just marketing speak to get boys to play with dolls.
