I have purchased my first doll. A 65cm obitsu with head (see pic). including shipping my total cost was $200. was that a good price? i have to get hair and eyes. that's going to be another $50 from parabox. $20 shipping for a set of eyes? WTF. unfortunately i couldn't find eyes and hair for the larger dolls at junkyspot.com.

so in short. i need to find some better deals on eyes and hair also. instead of those fake looking eyelashes from parabox. could one use the eyelashes you find in the cosmetics department at walmart?

Once finished I'll post lots of pics

na not too hard to apply. just cut them out as close as possible to the lines then soak them in water. slide the decal off onto the face. you can move them around while they are wet using a moist qtip. there is a chance you can tear them so get extra for your first time. after dry and the right position and wrinkle/bubble free hit it with a clear matte sealer or they will fall off. if you make a mistake you can scratch off the eyes and brows then clean off the sealer with acetone and start over (i had to 3 time before i was happy with it).

edit: She just fell over in the middle of the night and scratched an eye so i had to do it again. i wonder if i could use something more durable to protect them like maybe clear matte krylon spray enamel.

This stuff worked nicely. and has a better matte finish then the face sealer I bought. I'll have to wait for another accident to see if the several layer of it has made it more durable >.<

Unfortunately the cloths I liked were designed for a 1/3 60cm dollfie so they need "adjusted" to fit better.

>> No.1347   [Delete]   [Edit]

With dolls its really not about being 'worth the price'. You must find a doll that you really enjoy, otherwise you will probably regret it or not be fully satisfied. When shopping, try to keep in mind what is most important to you; poseability? face? size? Do you have a character in mind?
I have a 21cm obitsu girl. They are a good company for people who dont have that much money to throw around on the hobby, and can be nice quality.

As far as wigs, eyes, and accessories go, ebay is always a good bet. You can also do some research into other doll companies and see if they have anything that would fit your girl.

I would also recommend the Mr. Super Clear MSC fixant for faceups. I think you can get it at junkyspot.

I wish you luck with your collection!

Hujoo thread anyone?

I have to admit when I first saw them all I could think was "mutant alien fetus". However, while there are some frightening mods and faceups out there (like that pink and pastel thing in the creepy doll thread), I have to admit I've stumbled on some that look pretty darn cute and am now considering picking one up.

Anyone have a Hujoo? Stories, pics, whatever?

Just addin' a little content here. This my girl, A.D.A Model Type E, aka Emmaline. She's a Machina Alpha, sculpted by Batchix, who is an awesome lady, and more Alphas can be had at enchantmentdoll.com.

Even though the pics aren't that great (I need a new camera, dammit.) I want to show off the little details that make me squee.

HHHNNNGGG. Owner of Emmaline here again, with some news that makes me squee. Batchix is sketching up another girlbot to sculpt for casting, as you can see here. (The pic was public, so I feel little guilt posting it.) Inspiration was drawn from Bubblegum Crisis, Roll from Megaman, and Cat Ninden Teyandee(Samurai Pizza Cats).

I think Emma needs a loli girlfriend.

Hey /do/, I was gonna ask this on Den of Angels, but I think it is technically against the rules due to the doll type Im asking about. Ill ask it here and in addition, if any DoA veterans could tell me if this post WOULD be against the rules of DoA, I'd appreciate it as well.

Question: On a Momoko doll, how can you get rid of stains on the skin?
My Momoko's feet are all black now due to her shoes. I just started wrapping them in plastic wrap, but the damage is already done.
I have tried cleaning them with rubbing alcohol and using that Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, but neither helped.

Also, in case it happens to my new LUTs dolls as well, how can I remove stains from their skin too?

Any advice appreciated :)

>> No.1188   [Delete]   [Edit]

I forgot to mention in the last post that Momokos have hinged limbs rather than ball joints.
Ill give it a try on her feet... I guess if something bad happens, Ill just have her wear shoes all the time :\
Thanks :)

>> No.1196   [Delete]   [Edit]

All of you are completely fucking retarded.

Think of a magic eraser as a fine piece of pumice. It sands shit. That's all. If you use it on specific types of plastic, it will leave it either white, or visibly scuffed and distorted color-wise; because all you're going to do is strip a very fine top layer of plastic off your doll.

Nail polish remover is extremely iffy, even when it's acetone free, and you should do research on collector forums before you use it on any sort of plastic anything. Most of the time, it will melt your inanimate waif to varying degrees, and/or turn it into a goo that will never harden.

Don't use acetone on anything plastic ever, unless you want to fuck it up beyond repair. People who say otherwise are idiots.

If you're cleaning off paint, plain rubbing alcohol is the way to go. However, if you think that's going to remove stains, lololololol.

But anyway, here's the safe and not retarded way to fix the stains on your vinyl doll's feet without destroying it in the process:

Uh... thanks for that :)
I have heard of this, but never really thought of using it on the Momoko since most people talk about using it on large BJDs, while my Momoko is actually a 'fashion doll'.

I guess i may try this before using the nail polish remover. I have yet to find time to attempt anything, and honestly, I am still very worried of messing her up permanently (you cant just replace any of her parts if something went wrong!)

>> No.1205   [Delete]   [Edit]

If you're talking about the acne cream treatment, the size of the doll has absolutely nothing to do with it. It is all about what material the doll is made out of.

The acne cream method will not work on the brunt of BJDs, because they are made of polyurethane resin, which is a very hard, heavy sort of plastic. It's frequently used in the manufacturing of car parts, the more you know, etc, etc. To remove stains on resin, magic eraser/sanding is the only real solution; though people have had ~mixed~ results with baking soda and peroxide, and a few other things I could go on and on about.

The acne cream will work on anything made of [soft] vinyl. Which would be Momoko, Barbie, 1/6 Volks, the Volks Dolfie Dream line, and Obitsu everything.

What I have learned throughout my many, many years in the doll hobby is that people are morons and are out to destroy their expensive shit, and the expensive shit of others. Arm thyself with knowledge, etc, etc.

Well, I applied some Clearasil to my Momoko's legs (harder plastic) and feet (softer plastic) and waited about a day or two before rinsing it off an reapplying. Overall, I spent about 2 weeks or so repeating this process.
The Clearasil faded the black markings on her legs, but didnt completely 'erase' them, but the feet had better results. The black marks on her feet were bleached to the point where they are almost skin colored again. However, they arent completely gone, but good enough that I am happy!
From now on, I am completely wrapping her legs and feet with plastic wrap to prevent stains from happening again. ESPECIALLY on her feet.

Thanks for the help! :)
I really appreciate it!

I have a few porcelain dolls, something that I picked up throughout the years and I love them. They always put a smile on my face when I see them sitting on my dresser or above my bed. I'd like to get some that I can actually cuddle with, but alas, I'm very short on cash. What are some good small ones that I can love and call my own? Porcelain is too brittle for that...

>> No.1197   [Delete]   [Edit]

Well, there ARE the Madame Alexander's dolls that can often be found discounted at Tuesday Morning shops. Those can run for under $20 US there, though I've seen a few at $35.
