From what I understand, there seems to be a new spinoff mini-series. It started this month, so I'll be scanning these as well.

I would like to thank you on behalf of Russian RM community, we've been translating it into Russian based on your translations lately.
Although I've been slacking off from making my own translations, I still keep proofreading it for fidelity to the Japanese text. I thought sharing some results with you might be helpful, so here it goes:

Firstly, on page 9 I think you mistakenly identified the maid Kiku is speaking to as Otoshi. Since addressing the one you are talking to in 3rd person is normal in Japanese, I can see how this could be plausible. A lot of the phrases also have って attached to them, suggesting that the speaker references someone else's words, but you could interpret it as "You probably heard I quit being a geisha, so that was because of the child actually" in
そうさ。芸者を辞めたんだって子どもができたからだよ for example. However, the following phrase is rather unambiguous, as far as I can tell:
子連れじゃ お屋敷に住めないからって六区の親類に預けてるんだってさ
The first って could be still interpreted as "they told me I couldn't live with the child in the mansion", but the second part clearly describes simply Otoshi's own actions, so it would be strange to add って at the end unless the speaker was a different person.
The phrase "touching isn't it" in the next bubble also sounds presumptuous coming from Otoshi herself. Finally, a few pages later we see Otoshi already in Rokku grabbing Hana's hand, so it could be speculated that she left right after Kiku with young master and somehow got there faster than them, but that's just another stretch of logic.

The second one on page 17 is purely a kanji problem: you confused 夕べ and タベ, hehe. The word in fact is ゆうべ written with the kanji 夕, rather than "tabe" in katakana. The fact that へ is written identically in both hiragana and katakana doesn't help either, but it is possible to decipher it from the context. Since たべ(る) is a verb, I personally can't recall it reduced to it's root たべ in any context other than たべに行く for example, but there would still be に right after it. I can be misremembering that though, but other than that I'm completely sure that "tabe" in this context sounds strange and incomplete, so ゆうべ is the more plausible interpretation. Finally, mangaka often use katakana to write words that are not usually written that way for no good reason, but it's still worth paying attention to when it comes to disambiguating something like this. It also makes the phrase more spicy as Peach Pit probably intended since now it reads "Last night we had quite a long and intimate talk."

Finally there's a bubble on page 20 that points to Hana, while the words "you're right... She's my favourite, but she's quite fickle." are supposed to belong to young master. Although I remember quite a few occasions when I had trouble figuring out who was speaking and the way the bubbles were drawn offered no help, but I believe in this case the speaker is actually Hana, and the phrase means something like this:
"He's rather fickle for someone who already has his eyes locked on his sweetheart."
Which is a comment on how in the previous chapter he desperately tired to make contract with another Rozen Maiden at the first opportunity, while being a declared Shinkufag.
This also fits in well with next bubble where Hana tells Kiku to forget about him.

A hope these explanations will be helpful. Keep up the god work!
And I commend you on translating the novels, that seems like a huge lot of work.

>Firstly, on page 9 I think you mistakenly identified the maid Kiku is speaking to as Otoshi.

Oh man, you're totally right. In my defense they talk similar haha

>The second one on page 17 is purely a kanji problem: you confused 夕べ and タベ,

I KNEW it sounded off, but I couldn't think of what else it could be read as except "tabe". I always forget that the kanji 夕 exists orz

>Finally there's a bubble on page 20 that points to Hana, while the words "you're right... She's my favourite, but she's quite fickle." are supposed to belong to young master.

Again, you're totally right, and I'm not sure how I didn't notice the bubble clearly pointing to Hana. It being her dialogue also explains why the sentence ends in ったら.

Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it! You were the proofreader for the Tales chapters, right? If you have time, would you be willing to proofread future chapters of 0? I'd hate to make such stupid mistakes again.

Cleans for the mini-series. Courtesy of rmk.

Just a few things. Page 12 is the usual backcover and it's not there. Also, page "13" is really part of the Ultra Jump Press Colleciton: a little booklet that came with the manga.

It's completely separate from the main series, but it might be related to another mini-series that was released some years ago. (I haven't read it)

So, does it seem like the new manga will have any tie-ins to the present day Rozen Maiden timeline (from the first and second series)? Or is it completely separate and really just a normal prequel? It would be kinda cool if they could influence the future with Jun. I didn't really like the ending of the second manga.

>> No.4558   [Delete]   [Edit]

well ... it does look like Pigeon pulled a DesuCake and bailed without bothering to tell anyone

the last ch she posted was WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY back in september of last year ... when she did an update to ch 6 after some mistakes were pointed out to her

Yeah, I already updated the .rar.

it is now february ... almost 5 full months since then

it is probably safe to assume that Pigeon is not going to be doing any more scanlations

does anyone know of anyone else who could work on this series ?
like maybe hyakki, that finished RMII after DesuCake poof'd

And since that point in September, Peach-Pit has released...

Two chapters.

Such a huge backlog! How ever will we catch up!?!?

I know it's hard to believe, but there are times where people have to put things like work and their social lives before translating and typesetting a manga in their own time. That's what happened with previous translators. I made a post explaining this in December but you seem to have missed it.

Just because it's been a while doesn't mean it isn't being worked on, and we're not THAT far behind. It helps that the plot hasn't even picked up steam yet.

As it stands right now, I could easily see translated chapters for Floor 7, 8 and 9 (this one is coming out later this month) being scanlated and released before Floor 10 is out. Something like that wasn't really feasible back when the Tales were being translated, which should show you that this isn't the same situation as that.

I know it's been a while since their last post but that's because there isn't really a whole lot for them to say besides "it's coming"

>> No.4560   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>4559
it isnt about how many ch's have or have not come out since september of last year

and is it really a good thing to point that out sooooooooooooooooooo dramatically

because if only two ch's have come out in the past 5 months ... that means that Pigeon could hardly claim to be sooooooooo overloaded by soooooooo many ch's that are coming out one right after another

why not face it dude ... you have been trying to steadfastly defend someone who to all appearances hasnt even come in here in something like 5 months ... not even a single word or post of any sort saying "hey my real life is very busy right now so translations will have to wait" ... nothing ... just month after month of silence

let's get real dude

>> No.4561   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>4560
Again, it's not the amount of chapters coming out that's the problem, it's how busy the translator themselves is.

I dunno if you've noticed, but this site is pretty dead. There's only been like 20 posts total in this thread in the past five months, it shouldn't be too surprising if you're not seeing posts from somebody, especially when there isn't a lot to say. Even I forget to check this thread for a weeks at a time.

If you're really concerned about the status of the translations, wouldn't it be more beneficial to try and contact the person doing them and get your concerns across instead of waiting for them to post here (keep in mind that this isn't the "official RM0 thread of all the internet" or anything, the manga gets uploaded to other places) instead of shitting yourself and assuming the worst?

You're not going to get translations of a niche manga like RM (face it, it's not 2007 anymore) without some caveats.

Right now you've got one person translating it in their free time, and unless you're going to pay somebody else to translate it or hope that some group out there picks it up out of the goodness of their heart (not happening), refer to my previous image.

I get that you're concerned, and that's why I'm telling you not to worry. Eventually the chapters will come out, we'll get caught up and this will be a distant memory.

yeah, this site has been mostly dead for years, the admins never even finished posting sticky links for the second arc

as for you forgeting to check this site for weeks at a time ... well, I'm not like you, I check this site, and several others I get manga from at least once every day ... so if something gets posted I see it

as for your comments about Pigeon, still trying to defend her ... those are pretty much the same stuff that was being said by people trying to convince everyone that DesuCake would be right back real soon to finish translating

have a nice day dude ... yes we all get it, you are a staunch defender of Pigeon

>... well, I'm not like you, I check this site, and several others I get manga from at least once every day

Well, that's fine if you wanna do that. But that must be pretty uneventful considering there's not much discussion here and it's probably contributing towards your frustration. If I forget to check this site and it turns out I could've read the latest chapter a couple days earlier, I don't really consider it that big of a loss.

>yes we all get it, you are a staunch defender of Pigeon

I see no reason not to hold out hope. The quality of chapters released so far have been great (remember arguecat?), it seems silly to give up so quickly at the first snag. Especially after waiting so long for the Tales translations. This is nothing.
