Sup, /o/. I'm thinking about getting into digital drawing, but found it very hard to draw on a tablet when I can't look directly at where I draw. Since I usually draw with pencil on paper, I'm of course used to looking directly at both my pencil and where I draw. So, I've got three questions:For those of you who draw digitally, how long did it take you to get accustomed to not looking at where you're drawing (if you understand me, English isn't my first language)What are the best drawing tablets and drawing programs out there? I've got Photoshop CS5, which I still need to learn better, but I think it'll be good when I learn more. Price isn't a big issue, but I would not like to spend more than 300$ on a tablet.Any tips for when drawing on a tablet? Thanks in advance!

>>1829I'm too lazy to use a scanner and waste paper. Everything is digital. I've never tried to scan my drawn work and continue digitally.
>>1829i draw and ink traditionally, scan and colour with the computer. It's a lot easier to me.
i have my bamboo tablet almost half a year now, still didn't get used to drawing with it 100%.
I actually just got one about 2 weeks back. Took about two days to fully adjust to, but once I did get used to it, to my surprise it was actually easier? much easier to rule out things and control clutter. I've found Paint.NET and PaintTool SAI and ArtRage to all be really good candidates. To be honest, I had real trouble with Photoshop, I really dislike the interface, but that's just me. I would hugely recommend it though. As for tablets, I just got the cheap Bamboo Pen, but it works flawlessly, so I don't see any trouble with it.But yeah when I first unboxed it and plugged it in my initial expression was :| and actually contemplated returning it, it's dodgy to get the hang of.

sorry for being late on this thread !honestly, less than one week, getting used to a tablet can be pretty quick, if you have a friend who own a tablet ask him to let you try, its not hard.the best tablet ? i should say, wacom, ive not tried a lot of different brand but this one is a steady one.wrong question, the tips you need, is more about drawing software than tablet, once you get used to draw on a tablet they are all the same (except for technical stuff like pressure ect...)
sorry for being late on this thread !
I drew something instead of studying :D

remember to say about the good bits on someones piece of art. From the impression you've given me, you don't even take into consideration how long the artist has worked on their piece...how much they value it etc. You're older then me. You should know this.I understand my work is open to criticism-- but that doesn't mean people like you can do short little sentences about what's wrong with peoples art and then trudge off happily, feeling good that you've atleast bothered to comment. Well I would've preferred no comment from you on that. :| Comments like yours only degrade peoples confidence.I tell you what, a false ego-boost is better then killing confidence. I will say this AGAIN. If people feel they can give comments like that out then it has to be an IN-DEPTH response covering everything. Meaning the person saying such a comment should also READ the description (you obviously didn't), know what they're on about etc.http://katt315.deviantart.com/

Positive comment: You're better than CWC.If you don't like critique, don't ask for it. We're not here to give a flying fuck about your ego.

/o/ it seems I have a problem, I've been drawing for almost a year now and it seems like my art's missing something, I can't put my finger on it, so I thought maybe one of you guys would be able to help me.Keep in mind I drew this without a tablet(But I don't think thats the only problem with it).Could /o/ offer me some critique or explain what it is I'm missing?

Stop imitating other people's styles and imitate reality.
>>1439I didnt copy this picture or even use a reference.I think I really need to work on the small things, the hair on her left side needs to be reshaped the nose needs work. I won't able to do much with the hair until I get my tablet (Ordered it today) and she needs eyebrows.I think I've mixed (or at least tried to mix)around a few to many styles.Pic is the full body version still incomplete (I still have to tamper with the eyebrows and then fix the proportions of the corset and tone the rest of it.)

>>1440This.Whether you're imitating other people's work or not, it doesn't matter, it just looks wrong. Start off with realism before you go on with this, because you're drawing with no structure of anything at all, and you're basing the drawing on what you see, which works in theory, but definitely not here. Not sure if troll, try Loomis.
