The collab with Kurokishi looks very interesting and I have no doubt we'll probably see new lines from their seiyuu. From what little I've seen of the game, it looks kind of fun.

Help with documenting this game would be appreciated.

sadly it looks like the doll announcement might be a scam they are using to drum up business for any other dolls they might be making, by suckering people into looking at their website, hoping to buy one of the Rozen Maiden dolls

I looked at the link posted, and yes it is a very carefully crafted pic announcing Rozen Maiden dolls
but that is all it does
if you go to their company web page and find the pic and click on it hoping to find out more info about the dolls, all it does it send you back to the carefully crafted pic announcing the dolls

it is nothing more than a closed loop of redirects that only let you see an advertisement for the dolls
you are not allowed to find out anything about the dolls, not even info about what size the dolls are

what also makes me suspicious is the company name itself "Dolk"
which is very suspiciously close to Volks, a very well known and respected Japanese doll maker
http://dolk.jp/pages/Rozenmaiden/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volks

the whole ad campaign for the Rozen Maiden dolls looks very similar to what Danny Choo did a few years ago, with his ad campaign for his BJD robot doll, his "SmartDoll"
He even posted little teaser pics and vids os the doll, initially it was supposed to be 60cm, but a yr or so later he posted pics of a 120cm version it was supposed to be
It never did get made in either size, all it did was sucker people into coming to his website so they could see the perfectly ordinary 60cm BJD's he was making/selling

Dude, you're thinking about this too hard. It's just an announcement, they're still in the process of making these. If you run the page into translate they even say to please wait for an update on these.

These ARE official. Both the official Rozen Maiden and Peach-Pit's own twitter accounts have either retweeted DOLK's announcement or tweeted about it (such is the case with the official Rozen Maiden account https://twitter.com/rozen_official/status/1182629973196066821).

your words "they're still in the process of making these"

and they will not even allow potential customers to know what size the dolls are going to be ? ? ?
do you know how stupid that is

you can hold your breath and wait for them, I'm not going to bother

>> No.11249   [Delete]   [Edit]

it looks like I nailed it right on the money ... all it appears to be is a scam ad for Rozen Maiden dolls to get you to go to the DOLK website looking for them, and you wont find them but you will see all the other dolls they are selling

the "BIG EVENT" was supposed to be back on November 21st ... it is now December 10th and the only thing you can find on the DOLK website about any Rozen Maiden dolls is the little pic that announces them ... you do not get to see any pics of the dolls, there is no information like what size the dolls are going to be ... no way to pre-order one

NOTHING

just a carefully crafted pic announcing that they are supposedly coming

ROFL

On note of the mobile game collab: I datamined images from the game but I cannot find their voice lines in the audio folder at all. I at least have recordings of them

Dude, we don't even know what size the dolls are in canon, and considering 2013's... odd size choices in some scenes (pocky scene anyone) they are probably trying to figure out what size they wanna do that wouldn't upset the fans. They probably won't announce the sizes until they make a prototype. Considering this is an official thing (as you can see with PP's logo being on the bottom there, and PP's twitter retweeted the announcement as well) it means there is a contract in place, so they gotta deliver the goods or suffer legal troubles.

These dolls are probably going to be over 1k anyway so they couldn't in their right mind allow preorders yet without having a prototype to show off at least. Dolls of this quality takes a lot longer than figures to make, so maybe chill a little? I don't expect to see more news on these dolls until spring at the earliest or summer. They have also had other collabs in their repertoire that does help prove the legitimacy if you cared to do more digging than the announcement page.

Also speaking of their repertoire, all their dolls are so gosh dang pretty, I am super excited to see how the RMs look if this is anything to go by.

I remember seeing a character size chart in one of the early RM stories, it showed all the main characters standing with size bar lines showing behind them, Jun really is short.

I do not remember if that character size pic was in an individual ch, or if it was part of a complete vol.

I do remember that the taller dolls, Suigintou, Suiseiseki, and Souseiseki were shown as being in the 1/3 scale size range, around 60cm, which might make Shinku about 45cm

I did an online search to see what I could find about their sizes, and this is what I found.

this link shows what size the Volks RM dolls were, 1/3 scale, which would correspond to the size chart pic I saw
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/496381190154511992/

These next two links are the only other links to RM characters that I could find that gave size info about the characters, and both are shown as being on the upper end of the 1/3 scale size range
https://www.absoluteanime.com/rozen_maiden/suiseiseki
https://www.absoluteanime.com/rozen_maiden/suigintou

I am not able to read Japanese, so if there is any sort of size info listed on the Peach-Pit website I would not be able to find it or read it.

The NOMAD anime had a size chart, but it is not canon since it was only made to keep characters on model. Also all the dolls excluding Hina and Kanaria, are shown to be about the same height in the manga, and those two might only look shorter due to the lack of heels in their shoes. No other material other than NOMAD anime reference sheets say anything about what any of the characters heights are.

Judging by the promo picture, they are going by the DEEN anime, which did not make any sort of size charts in order to be more faithful to the manga. (Which in my opinion was not a good idea since it constantly made them go off model for the characters but bleh).

There is nothing on the PP's site or anything they have said about the dolls (or even the humans in that case) that states the dolls canon heights. All we know is they barely can reach a doorknob.

Even mobage crossovers which would usually include height in the character profiles, refuses to do so for rozen maidens (I think that one bullet hell mobage either listed it as unknown or excluded it at all).

Also both the volks and the scale figures by griffon are listed as 1/3rd I believe, but the griffon ones are far smaller than the volks. It isn't a good idea to go by merch size to determine these things.

lol, oops I meant to say "barely can't reach a doorknob" my bad, sorry. I should have double checked my post before posting. Also I think this is the height reference image the poster was talking about. Again, it is not canon, as is pretty much everything from the NOMAD anime.

Your source has no references. I've never seen actual numbers given for doll heights before in official media. Any actual numbers are just speculation it seems.

>>11254
The 2013 anime actually gave the human characters height in centimeters but yeah, the dolls did not receive such treatment. But that's fine since they're WAY too small than the manga portrays them.

As far as doll heights go, imo, they're usually scaled half Jun's height. This works pretty well with Jun since he's just a child so the dolls aren't too big or small, but with characters who scale very differently than him this can go wrong (like that page of Unwound Jun reading to Shinku where she's scaled so poorly against him that she looks way bigger than she is). In 0 the dolls scale the same to Kiku as the dolls did Jun.

I honestly think Peach-Pit refuse to make any statements on any of their heights so they don't feel pressured to be precise when drawing. If it's all relative then so long as they're roughly correctly scaled then, hey, it works.

>> No.11258   [Delete]   [Edit]

>>11254
I understand that PP never listed any official sizes for any of the dolls, and I agree with the comment about doing that would keep any pressure off of them to be precise when drawing them

>>11256
yes. that is the size chart poster I remember seeing, and I understand about it not being canon

Overall, from reading the manga, and having owned a 1/3 scale bjd, I have gotten the impression that the 3 tallest dolls (Suigintou, Souseiseki, and Suiseiseki) are all around 60-65cm tall (with Suigintou being a little bit taller than the twins)
both Shinku and Kanaria are around 45-50cm tall, with Shinku being a bit taller than Kanaria
and Hinaichigo is about 40-42cm tall

and LOL yeah, PP not being required to be precise in how they draw them, does lead to some interesting variations in their sizes depending on what the scene is

I have never seen the DEEN reference materials and kinda assumed there was no height chart with how wonky things got. Thank you for the correction, it was my mistake to assume just because I could not find the info.

As much as it is good on PP by making things easier on themselves like that, it saddens me that it means we will never get life size RM dolls. Maybe one day when they are completely done with RM they will make up a size for them.

>> No.11260   [Delete]   [Edit]

that is an interesting pic ... because if Jun is 155cm tall ... and I agree with you that the dolls tend to be shown as about half as tall as Jun (especially in the manga, which would be considered "canon" compared to the various anime's) ... which is how it is shown in the pic in 11256

so using 155cm for Jun's height, that would have Suigintou at least 77.5cm tall ... with Suiseiseki and Souseiseki about 75cm ... Shinku about 65cm tall ... Kanaria about 62cm ... and Hinaichigo at about 60cm

one of the things I have noticed, that does not help in trying to figure out their sizes, is how in both the manga and the anime, they are never drawn to normal human proportions
... when I look at normal bjd's, the body proportions are the same as a normal human, just scaled down ... but the Rozen Maidens are usually shown as being thicker/wider in body shape than a normal human ... they are usually drawn more like a dwarf or midget human than a normal human ... which would make sense in a way because I can guess that since the artists of the manga are women, they would be familiar with the ordinary dolls that girls play with ... which are proportioned differently than a bjd is
... it's like trying to use an apple to portray an orange, yeah they are both about the same size, but they are not the same thing

like in the very early scene where Jun is picking up Shinku to look at her for the first time ... if you look at the way his arms are positioned as he holds her, the width of her body is much wider than a scaled down adult's body would be, and her head is much larger compared to what a scaled down adult's head would be ... it is more like she is drawn with "baby doll" proportions instead of scaled down adult proportions
... and all the dolls are frequently drawn with those kid's doll proportions all throughout the manga

I can hazard a guess that the artists draw the dolls like that because it is easier than trying to drawn the much smaller body parts that would be required in order to show the dolls in "real" scale

it would be nice if some doll company made a series of the Rozen Maiden dolls using the "half the size of Jun" as a baseline ... I know I would love to have a Suigintou bjd that was close to 80cm tall :-)
...it would be well worth saving up to get one !

Oh, wow, you super don't know what you're talking about. Most of Dolk's collab events start like this. Yes, it sucks waiting forever for more information but such is the life of a BJD collector. I do wish they'd wait to announce these things until they at least had prototypes but this is fairly typical.

>> No.11265   [Delete]   [Edit]

rolling laughing
wellllll, if I was a brainless idiot I might believe that is the life of a bjd collector, the biggest problem with what you describe as the "life of a bjd collector" is that I was an bjd OWNER (Iplehouse EID Luna, for the doll I had go over to the "Dolls" section and look at post 1650), so I am very well familiar with new model/design dolls being advertised (as well as various accessories), not only by Iplehouse but by other "reputable" bjd makers
so before you try to preach your stupidity to someone, you first might want to find out what they do or do not already know about
