HEY FAGGOTS
I ADDED A NEW FIELD TO THE POSTING FORM
IT'S THE BEST FIELD EVER.

Okay some seriousness now: There's a field called "desu", in which you're supposed to write "desu".

It's like a captcha that is always the same. This is an intentionally primitive solution against spammers, for various reasons. It can be very effective if the spammers are dumb. If they are reading this, they aren't dumb, so there's no point in hiding details! Yay!

Summary:

  • Type "desu" in the field that says "desu". That's all
  • If you have javascript and cookies enabled, you might not need to enter it at all!
  • If you use noko or sage, you don't have to enter it at all!
  • Leave suggestions and angry comments in this thread
  • If you can't post at all for some reason, get on irc and we'll try to help. Unless you hit a timezone in which the devs are sleeping (by "the devs" i mean just myself).

Wasn't there an archive for Desu? Or was that for one of the other chans? (Aurora or Ubuoa).

As you may know, dx and I have done work on an new software named Wakarimasen, which is essentially an improved, Python-based Futaba-style imageboard similar we have right now on the front-end. However, I am interested in what post formatting language you guys would like to see. I have designed a simple system for converting a defined user input into HTML output and vice-versa, but I'm interested in your preferences and experiences to decide which formatting language to implement. Here are what I am currently considering:

  • Wakabamark, the current system
  • a subset of BBCode, which has very mixed reception among people
  • a subset of HTML
  • a subset of Markdown
  • Wiki-style syntax

A WYSIWYG formatter will not be likely unless widely requested.

If there is a particularly good comment formatting language you prefer, by all means share. Note that if my new system works well enough, it could very well support a user-selected formatting. Thank you for your time.

Ooh, that gives me an idea.

This is a test!

AHA! I used a simple Unicode trick by adding a zero-width character that did not match to \s.

>>1685

Noted. I'm leaning toward circumsized HTML, too.

So conversation has been whirling about on IRC about how to improve Desuchan. Whether or not you think that the quality of the site has been getting better or worse lately, all of us can probably agree that we could handle more traffic (which, hopefully, would translate to more donations/ad revenue, etc--but that's secondary to the point).

All of us have good ideas for boards to add or remove (we've gone over that thread before-->>71), and we have /sandbox/ to try out new ideas. This thread is for more than just board suggestions though; what we're wondering, more generally, is: how can we make Desuchan a more attractive site, and a worthy alternative to the major/minor *chans out there (4chan, 7chan, 420chan, 2chan, whatever else)?

Questions to ask:

  • Who makes up our current userbase? What sort of niches/groups should we be targeting?
  • What are our current offerings (boards, irc, radio/tv) providing to our userbase? Are there ways we could improve and develop these offerings to better meet the needs of our userbase?
  • What are our strengths as an online community? How can we capitalize on them? What are our weaknesses? How can we compensate for or get past them?

It was removed because of location of hosting company - they think cartoons hurt kids. Idiots cant even tell fantasy from reality.

As long as you don't remove the hentai board, it's all gud.

>> No.2009   [Delete]   [Edit]

I have some suggestions.

  • Can the desuchan menu change theme like the board pages? It's strange to have the board with the Tomorrow black theme and the menu in Burichan.
  • Also since the /loli/ board is deleted, you should remove it from the menu.
  • Lastly, the image source site is umprotected. My dumb browser keep asking me if I should proceed and it's annoying. Why is this happening?
  • Also when I try to open an image 99% of times it returns a 503 error, even if the image is there. I have to reload it until it appears. Why?

Thanks in advance for listening to my babbling.

  • Is the anti-spam Boku question been disabled? I posted this without answering it and it went through without problems. Maybe there is a bug or something.
  • Finally, posting takes a lot of time. The server takes minutes to respond. Is that normal?

Thanks in advance for listening to my babbling.
Also ignore the post above. I posted it by mistake and now I can't delete it.

Really dudes? You guys are forcing SSL on this site and making us download certificates?

Seriously, do you really think forcing everyone to adopt SSL is actually going to prevent a government organization with advanced snooping technologies like the NSA from collecting/decrypting the data if they really wanted to?

http://www.techspot.com/news/53045-ssl-encrypted-communications-intercepted-and-stored-by-prism.html

You guys are idiots, you know that?

All this shit does is make it a pain in the ass for regular users who're just visiting the site (and make everything slower, too). I downloaded the certificates and forgot to checkmark the first box on the certificate installation prompt (pictured here).

This meant that even with the fucking certs installed, I still couldn't access the site. Redownloading it only results in an error message saying "This certificate is already installed as a certificate authority". It took me forever to figure out how to edit certificates already installed on my browser.

A wild help appears!

Get HTTPS Everywhere and add this custom ruleset:
http://pastebin.com/hg1PyNMb

This should redirect every image request to https before it leaves your browser. It won't stop it from bitching about insecure links, though.

Here is info about adding new rulesets: https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere/rulesets

This should be fixed right now, but continuing from this guy.

  • Save http://desuchan.net/https.xml somewhere
  • open about:support
  • click on the "Open directory" button besides profile directory.
  • find the HTTPSEverywhereUserRules dir
  • move the https.xml into that directory

If you really think it's all about gamergate you need to lurk more

Most of the other boards don't even like /gamergate/, at all

I've never been to reddit

It's reddit in concept alone.

The sites pretty damn fun, lots of shit happens all the time, and even if you don't like the big boards, there are a lot of smaller quieter comfortable boards, that remind me of desuchan before it became an absolute ghost town (thankfully seems to be picking up speeds)

I also have a board there where I share desu goodness, and even link back to desuchan

So it's reddit?

>The sites pretty damn fun, lots of shit happens all the time, and even if you don't like the big boards, there are a lot of smaller quieter comfortable boards, that remind me of desuchan before it became an absolute ghost town (thankfully seems to be picking up speeds)

Reminds me of when 7chan started and everybody forced every thread to say "come to 7chan we're not shit we swear guiz".

Oh cool you made you're own subreddit on gamergagchan?

Cripplecock is an asshole, I've known of / him for nearly three years, he was a useless poster on one site and was a terrible admin on the other causing the shutting down of both sites and he's a whore on IRC (constantly begging people to come to the infinitechan channel and post on his site, which had at most 100 users before gamergag). Furthermore he's a l33tfag, he made a post saying how he misses the days of early 4chan when he browsed when he was fifteen and at most he's twenty now or just shy of it so that means he considers 2011 "old", the longest he's been on that site / known of imageboard culture is 2009.

I love desuchan but sometime I feel like the boards are too slow. I was wondering if you mods have thinking of a way to improve the boards fluidity. I don't want desuchan to be big as 4chan, but I feel like some boards, like /a/, could be more fun if they where faster.

Or do you just don't care about boards fluidity?
