Nope, pretty easy to figure that one out.

I've been playing around with the new Ubuntu for a couple of weeks, and I'm rather impressed. Instant boot times is something very hard to argue with, and Unity is plenty pretty. Plus, silly amounts of screen space! :D

Hello /tech/, I found this on Kickstarter: http://kck.st/1gVCcrB , it's literally a low-cost alternative to Project Tango, you can DIY it for 50$ and do not need to buy a specific smartphone model just for having a 3D camera, it's adaptable to all Android and iOS smartphones, Raspberry Pi and have ROS drivers for Robot Operating System middlewares!
I really love the idea of using this for SLAM Augmented Reality and 3D scanning, quality look pretty good for such small device.

If it succeeds, I think it would be very beneficial for the DIY community, pledging for the developer edition give you the source code, the 3D CAD files, B.O.M. and it's possible to build one completely from scratch, unlike other commercial solutions you become completely independent (spare parts, repairs, support, etc.), the possibilities are endless, so far I've not found a way to do it DIY on a smartphone, if anyone knows an open source solution like this please let me know, I searched hard for it.

However, if this continues like this I'm afraid they won't make it with the funds, honestly this leave me a bit disappointed, because commercial solutions like the Structure Sensor by Occipital has reached over a million dollars, and it's not completely DIYable, as we speak lacks support for Android, it's much more expensive and at first glance the resolution doesn't seem much better or worse.

Apple bought PrimeSense, blocked sales, pulled down OpenNI website, stopped the development of open source solutions, I hate to be forced to depend on them.

Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

INQ Chat 3G

Got this one a while back, and honestly I am going to argue it is the best phone for the dollar. It was $50, but when you bought it you get a $25 telus card, which more or less made the phone $25 dollars. The camera has auto focus which makes its pictures embarassingly better than my Ipod touch's. The videos it takes on the other hand are more suited for filming bigfoot or the lochness monster. Its screen is large enough, the qwerty keyboard is nice, and I have very good reception with it.

Currently this is my battlestation.

  1. A desktop that is a real desktop, not one of those limited gimped mini desktop.
  2. A three-year old laptop that is currently unused for now but I want to use it for secondary purposes and stuff like for DVD viewing and shit.
  3. A 2.1. sound system
  4. A simple headphone with mic.

But I want to add the following for my perfect battlestation:

  1. Two other monitors. I have one other monitor, which is a 720p 16:10 HDTV/DVD player combo in storage and want to buy another 16:9 monitor as well. Also I want to add two vertical monitors for texts such as magazines and digital books and irc conversations/windows.
  2. Hook up my modern video game consoles (PS2, Xbox 360) to my battlestation
  3. Possibly another external hard drive for all my stored anime, music, and recorded TV shows, and have my current hard drive I have to be used as a static archive/recovery hard drive, and get a new external hard drive for my current content.

I've been waiting to do this since early 2010, and this is my chance. Any other suggestions in how this can be done, feel free to reply.
