On the topic of hate, do you think some of the hus dislike their frilly dresses? Like Remilia wakes up in the morning, her self-convinced transylvannian heritage kicks in and she just wants to put on that adidas one piece, but everyone has certain expectations of her?
Recent developments, especially regarding wing hat adornments may actually put this into the "probably not" category, but on the other hand, this may just be a sad development, a sad downward spiral, trying harder and harder to satisfy a world that expects frilliness, at the expense of young-looking ancient women.
But maybe, there's also a positive message hidden in here: No matter how weak we feel, how much we just want to sink into our comfort zones, there is a strength within us to rise up to the demands, no, the hopes of the world around us. To not just put on that frilly dress, but to also go a step further, to say "There must be more to life" and also put little hats, little FRILLY hats on our comically huge bat wings. This is why we love Touhou, because ZUN takes the time to weave these challenging social issues into the narrative, to make us stop and think "Why would she not have ten fingers" before being rained on by the next idea, concept, sometimes even a hailstorm of little bullets.
Praise touhous, and long live all boards with them on it (even the dead ones).
