Labels are overrated.
When I was younger and going through puberty, if an ad for gay porn popped up, I never ventured in out of curiosity, because there was nothing that appealed to me in what I saw. (Gay porn on the net is generally pretty lacking anyway, but that's besides the point.)
As I got older, I found myself attracted to a male friend's personality. There was nothing physical there (they weren't hideous, but there was no immediate urge to tear off their clothes), but I still found myself growing "fond" of them in a romantic sense.
As time progressed, I started to find things they did cute, began admiring their body, and so on. There were no real feminine features, yet I still found myself growing attracted to them.
That relationship has come and gone, but what has stuck with me is an appreciation for "hot" features in both males as well as females, and any androgynous or "gender queer" individuals "in between" those two extremes.
Even for heterosexuals and homosexuals, if they meet someone of their "designated gender preference" who they don't find very attractive physically, once an emotional attraction has been established, a physical one starts to emerge as well.
