I once had a fortress and I named each Dwarf a name of one of my pals.

Also, do you fgts like the idea of starting a bloodline game? We can name all the dorfs after desuchaners.

I have a plan for a new fortress, and this is it:

Fuck rocks.
Fuck dirt.
My dorfs will live in an ultramodern glass skyscraper arcology with a massive fountain at its core that doubles as an automatic defense mechanism.
Stone will only be used for mechanisms, magma handling, misc. craftwork, and unavoidable underground construction. I might make an exception for obsidian and petrified wood for aboveground use.

Crimson the Tenebrous Castle has been abandoned permanently.

Lessons learned from this attempt:

1. Glass is painfully slow to create and work with. Next time I'll build primarily with blocks of local stone, and use glass for windows and extra touches rather than for every block.
2. When building over a river, be sure to plan things right the first time. Deconstructing floor over a river will result in lost blocks and occasionally lost dorfs.
3. Learn to respect the power of a waterfall. My tower was immediately in front of a 7-zlevel waterfall. I thought it'd be cool to dig passages right behind it so the mist would make my dorfs happy - so far so good. But! Combined with #2, I thought a good safety measure to implement would be tunneling in from the sides at the top of the fall to build some grating to catch things that fell into the river. BIG MISTAKE. The water gushed out and swept half my dorfs down the waterfall to an inevitable demise as they insisted on walking through the raging rapids rather than using a bridge. The foot of the falls became a compacted gooey mass of bodies and the river ran red. I could only watch in horror, palm on face.

So I embarked on a site with an ocean on one side and a magma pipe on the other. I was thinking about finding a way to drain the ocean and replace it with magma. but that would kill my FPS and iirc the ocean refills itself.

I really wished they had kept the necromancer instead of giving us the butt-ugly witchdoctor. It's not just that though, but that Nercomancer makes sense to have since they truly fit the role as the spellcaster that deals in the forbidden, where as witch doctors are more like druids that specialize in cursing. I want my fucking unmoral magician that people hate, not this nature bitch that hates people!

Witchdoctor is a nice change and has much more interesting abilities than necromancer.

The disk scratching issue is neither better nor worse than before, it's exactly the same. And it's not much of an issue unless the console is moved while a disk is being read. Keeping the 360 horizontal makes it less likely, and installing any game before it's played practically solves the issue entirely.

I'm sick of the arrogant bullshit that the major publishers keep pulling. DLC is one more thing to drive players away and into the arms of the smaller groups and indies. Up the revolution.

DLC only pisses me off if it's actually already on the disc, and all you're paying for is an unlock for it.

dlc is great as long as it is not content ready by release
i'm ok with paying $5-10 for content worth, you know, 5-10. i don't have an inherent problem with dlc.
it's only "unfinished" if it is something they advertised or whatever.
