You know I never really played Japanese Rhythm games. I mean, I played DDR a few times as a kid but never really got wicked into. But...I dunna know. I walked into my local game store, it had a few arcade machines. I have seen the IIDX and games like that but it looks just so intense and it turns me away.

But...something about the bright lights and colors just attracted me. Even more for me was the cutesy characters and the fact that I could play the themes for my favorite anime.

Pop 'n Music was the first arcade game that made me want to just play more and more. And even though I absolutely suck at these music games, I just love Pop 'n Music.

I bought an old Ransai. Works pretty well except that recently my friend who builds arcade rigs for Bemani games came to my campus to help us with an event noticed a problem. He came with his DDR setup (metal pads). I mentioned that my lately the controller wasn't being detected and that it was probably the adapter (uses PS1 plug, so I have a PS1/2 to USB adapter). The event went off pretty well and I was roaming the rooms to check what people were doing and I noticed that DDR wasn't being played one the big projector, Instead there were some CMD Windows and calibration screens. My friend was sitting next to my laptop ($1500 rig that we was being used for DDR) and had the Ransai on his laptop. He explained the the buttons themselves were messing up as well (he was using his own ps2/usb adapter). When a button was being held down, all of the other buttons on the calibration screen would flicker. We noticed the cable itself is loose. Spinning it upside down we opened it up to look inside. Man...old...I should have guessed by the PS1 controller port, but when I looked inside it just look old and ghetto rigged. Probably it was re-soldered. Anyways, we are gonna upgrade it so that it takes USB by default. The ASC does use LED's but you need like 10 D Batteries...yeah...ouch. Gonna see if I can change that.

Did you get Pop'n Music 19 to run? I'm not sure if I need an emulator or not. The init seems fine

Alrite /v/, my xbox LIVE just ran out, and ive been playing pc games lately so im thankfull for it running out. Im thinking about modding it, somewhat to play backups, but mostly, to play the idolm@ster
So /v/, wtf do i do to mod my xbox for Idolm@ster?

>> No.3590   [Delete]   [Edit]

mod chip?

>> No.3591   [Delete]   [Edit]

to play backups you need to mod the firmware on the dvd drive. right now the latest is iextreme 1.61 for samsung/benqs, 1.51 for hamachi, or 1.6 for lite-on. doing so will get you banned on live and also have your system crippled no installing games to hd, all saves made after the ban will be corrupted on other systems, your gamertag will be corrupted and will not save any achievement points you earn

another problem is that modding the firmware doesn't remove region protection, so unless you have a ntsc-j machine the backup won't work.

currently the only way around this is to modify they system via jtag and use a reloader to boot into a modified firmware that allows for any homebrew/backups from any region to run.

Systems that have the summer 09 update can not be modded this way, so you'll need to find an older one to do so. sometimes on ebay they are selling them for about 200usd.

good luck

I've been thinking about buying a 360 to play the few exclusives that interest me. I'm not too fussed about not installing games since it'll be an arcade, I don't see any need to transfer my saves between consoles and I'm not into the whole e-penis waggling gamertag stuff. Should I be okay with a modded 360?

>> No.3597   [Delete]   [Edit]

yeah, just make sure the games you want are either region free or are of the region your system is. you can still system link and maybe xlink kai or something will work for you

I have a plan for a new fortress, and this is it:

Fuck rocks.
Fuck dirt.
My dorfs will live in an ultramodern glass skyscraper arcology with a massive fountain at its core that doubles as an automatic defense mechanism.
Stone will only be used for mechanisms, magma handling, misc. craftwork, and unavoidable underground construction. I might make an exception for obsidian and petrified wood for aboveground use.

Crimson the Tenebrous Castle has been abandoned permanently.

Lessons learned from this attempt:

  1. Glass is painfully slow to create and work with. Next time I'll build primarily with blocks of local stone, and use glass for windows and extra touches rather than for every block.
  2. When building over a river, be sure to plan things right the first time. Deconstructing floor over a river will result in lost blocks and occasionally lost dorfs.
  3. Learn to respect the power of a waterfall. My tower was immediately in front of a 7-zlevel waterfall. I thought it'd be cool to dig passages right behind it so the mist would make my dorfs happy - so far so good. But! Combined with #2, I thought a good safety measure to implement would be tunneling in from the sides at the top of the fall to build some grating to catch things that fell into the river. BIG MISTAKE. The water gushed out and swept half my dorfs down the waterfall to an inevitable demise as they insisted on walking through the raging rapids rather than using a bridge. The foot of the falls became a compacted gooey mass of bodies and the river ran red. I could only watch in horror, palm on face.

So I embarked on a site with an ocean on one side and a magma pipe on the other. I was thinking about finding a way to drain the ocean and replace it with magma. but that would kill my FPS and iirc the ocean refills itself.

Disgaea General

Currently playing my first Disgaea on the DS. Holy shit, this game is like crack, I can't stop playing it.

Disgaea 4 is on the way and the more I read about it, the more I want a PS3.

Here is the latest news and a few screenshots:

Nope. I have a loli friend on MSN who's into Disgaea, and she shooped that. I don't know how much of it is actually her original work, but it cracked me up nonetheless, given how trashy those Evony ads always are.

Pic related to Aramis, the necromancer shota with an attitude who needs to make more appearances. He was a pretty cool character to use in Disgaea 3, with how he could power up any "Overlord" character (example: Laharl, Mao, Zetta, Rozalin, Priere) just by standing next to them.

Pic related to two reasons I'm looking forward to Disgaea 4.

I'm currently doing another playthrough of Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days. I can't decide who is abused more in the Disgaea universe: Axel or Mid-Boss. Of course, the Prinnies take way more abuse.
