hmm - I can't justify the expense of getting a processor for this board, since the board itself needs replacing due to age also. I mean, the video's still AGP8x :/

But if anyone has a socket 478 Intel P4 with 400/533/800 MHz FSB and some hyperthreading just gathering dust, I'd be delighted to upgrade ... a Prescott 3.4E or 3.4EE Extreme Edition CPU would be just the thing ... ... (hint, hint)

Why are you even keeping this piece of junk as your main PC? At this point, you're DEFINITELY better off getting a new PC. Heck, if you check out Tom's Hardware's monthly builds, you can even assemble a pretty decent gaming PC for about $500. There's no sense in continuing to use a machine this old.

Except perhaps that I have real-life expenses that equal my real-life income.
I have never had a high-end system -- while it was still 'high end'.
I could always fire up my P3 733 with 500 MB RAM and a 16 MB PCI vid card. Not that doing so would benefit me in any way, but ... yeah.
