This may sound strange.

After you've played a game for a long time, or maybe not,
one thing that may become very memorable rather than the game's music,
is the game's sound effects.

Tell me your most memorable game sound effect/noise/whatever you want to call it. The one sound you can recall the best from any game you've ever played.

I don't even know why, but the rattling of the cages from Rayman 2 mixed with the cries for help is so memorable I can still recall it perfectly after not having played the game for about 5 years.

I can clearly remember the ambient zombie cries from resident evil 2. I remember always finding it calming and a bit unsettling how even when there were no zombies you could still hear them in the distance.

Jet Force Gemini's menu sounds. admitted, they're freebies and recycled in many games nowadays. but they were also pretty bold.

This.

After 14 years, it still gives me the creeps.

That sound when Mario gets the feather in Super Mario World.

Several sound effects in halo, including blast doors opening and closing, some keypad soundeffects, and especially the blaring sirens on the pillar of autumn.
I have heard these sound effects in many other games and movies, and typically recognize them right away

>> No.5664   [Delete]   [Edit]

First, The sirens in 007: Golden Eye. Second, the howls of head crabed people in halflife 2.

I forgot about this one, and it ranks above the halo sound effects... just about any sound effect you hear in hyrule field or lake hyrule in ocarina of time. Mostly lake hylia, especially the sounds of water, and the cawing of crows.
