2 cool things recently got translated and I think you all should know about them.

Kamidori: alchemy meister
less visual novel, more actual game but highly rated all the same. you should really try this out as it has some monster girls and everyone loves monster girls.
more info: http://tenka.seiha.org/2012/02/atelier-wil-and-his-pretty-princess-dressup-adventures/

Violated hero: I wanted to chivalrously save the world
lots of monster girls, full voice acting and consistent art quality. if you liked monster girl quest, you're gonna like this.
(haven't found a download for this, so I actually just bought the game. it's not very expensive and I want more monster girl games)

pic is from kamidori

VNDB's list for "chubby heroine": vndb.org/g843 I'm not familiar with any of the examples, though I know that Debu Plus is a deranged Love Plus parody.

Also, VNDB's list for "chubby protagonist: vndb.org/g1081 It looks like the Korean DS version of Otometeki is about to get a fan translation patch.

Hey, anyone know when the 2nd Monster girl quest game is coming out (Chuushou, I believe)? Here's the official site, in Japanese of course, but I can't read Japanese.

I'd like to point out that the faq on that site has changed by now. they seem to be saying now that middle piece will be be released in 2012 after all.

Otaku games are one of the main reasons why I like owning a PSP. I'm getting this.

Downloaded this a few days ago, totally worth it. My god. I'm reccing this to people who wouldn't normally touch it as "proof that a game doesn't need flashy 3D graphics to be pants-destroying".

>> No.483   [Delete]   [Edit]

it's annoying the crap out of me due to the lack of text skip function wich would be so obvious. especially how easily you can die and how lengthy the scenes are.

Second chapter? Yeeeah, that was pissing me off for a bit too. I did find this walk-through which helped a lot.

Just working on getting Wrong End 8 to get that final ExChapter I'm missing. All in all though, I enjoyed it. Kinda want to go back and play parts again.

>> No.494   [Delete]   [Edit]

thanks for the walkthrough. I might eventually try again sometime.

Personally, I can't read mine with the voices on. I usually have them on when I first start, just so that I can get an idea of what their voice is supposed to sound like, but then I turn them off, because otherwise I'll read it slow as fuck and get distracted (I have ADHD).

I hate reading it with an English speaking voice in my head, because it will always sound like the shitty dubs that Funimation does over their anime, not that the Japanese voices are much better...

Pic related, it's one of the VN's I'm currently reading. I love the artwork, but I've been disappointed with the story so far.

TL;DR - Any tips for someone with ADHD for reading more efficiently?

>> No.427   [Delete]   [Edit]

I consider the voices an integral part of a VN, when I'm lucky enough it has any. I'd never turn them off, not even protagonist's and I'll go to some lengths to ensure I always hear the full line.
I like to imagine this slowly teaches me more Japanese. it helps that I do understand a fairly large part of the spoken dialogue and I enjoy noticing differences between what is said and the translation. I'm also able to pick up on some minor but untranslatable nuances in speech patterns. (formal/feminine/childish speech)

Fullscreen, in Japanese, all voices turned on, in Linux, either on my quiet little nettop hooked up to a 27 inch monitor (at home) or my netbook (on the train).

There are quite a few VNs that I haven't read simply because they weren't voiced, actually.

About linux...
May I ask for the tutorial you followed for using wine with japanese eroge? (if such tutorial exist) I followed some out there but always failed and didn't worked for all games (if a game happens to work on my wine)...

I have ADHD although I don't have that problem. I get distracted badly when I play STG's though. Anyways, caffeine pills are a good source for cheap focus. I don't use them much though so I won't get a tolerance.

Any chance of Rape! Rape! Rape! or the sequel Play! Play! Play! getting an english patch? I'd be nice.

Probably not. Nukige never get translated unless it's from JAST USA or something. Better yet, I'd just like a download link of it so I can fap away.

So, I just started playing this, and so far it's pretty good.

The music is good, (I think the reason I found out about it was because it was done by the same people that did YMK's soundtrack, actually.) the art is pretty good (Not eye-blasting amazing, but it's not horrible, either.) and the characters are so far pretty good, if sometimes they get REALLY fucking out there, Sepia especially.

The basic idea is rather intriguing, and it looks like it's going to make for some good drama, especially with Natsumi's obligation. Pops (Whatever his name is) is looking like he's going to be a WONDERFUL villain, especially with him being voiced by god damned NORIO WAKAMOTO. The characters seem rather fleshed out, while still managed to fit into the classic VN molds that provide us with comfortable familiarity.

Anybody else played this? What do you think of it? Mind you, I've only gotten to Amnesty Day, so keep the spoilers low if you could.

I figured this would be relevant information to this board.

If you're watching the series Steins;Gate and you like it, don't forget it's based on a VN. Up until now it's never been touched by translators but earlier this month a group started working on it.

Just thought I'd pass on the good news to anyone who didn't already know.

>> No.420   [Delete]   [Edit]

There's also a PSP version, but no one has ever touched that. The PC version is being translated by some 4chan /jp/ and /a/ regulars, so it could get abandoned any day. Here's their site: http://vn.shourai.net/

I hate to be that guy, but I'm about to be that guy.

Started literally last night, there is no a K-On Visual Novel project in the works.

As of right now, the team consists of me (Organizer, boss man and script writer), an artist, and... An Azusa route advisor.

So yeah. It's not very far yet, but what do you expect in two days?

As it is, I understand and won't be the least bit surprised if the majority of your responses to this are "Another project started by channers? Pfft. Yeah right, like this'll ever get off the ground."

I definitely won't try to persuade you either way about that, because I know all too well how true that feeling is. Many projects started on the Chans get to the planning stage and never get past that.

Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

at first I thought you were trying to translate a a K-on VN. I thought yeah, like that'll ever be finished.
then I read more carefully and actually realised you're setting out to write one.

dude... leaving legal matters aside, what the fuck are you thinking? this is NOT as easy as you think it is.
